Painting in the tropics has preoccupied my work with imagery of botanical and figurative forms. The paintings are colour fields that express my reaction to the warmth and atmosphere of tropical space. Some of the artists who have inspired my work include the French artists Paul Gauguin, Henri Matisse and Henri Rousseau, as well as the Australian artists Margaret Olley, Ray Crooke and Arthur Boyd. I currently work from my north Queensland studio.
